“..metaphors were seen as better communicators”

this quote supports this article and what argument its pointing out. After reading this article it make sense why and how metaphor could be supporting someones health. Just by the way you communicate bad news about ones health could change their whole outlook on the problem.

“metaphors allow doctors to develop a common language with patients, and offer patients an avenue to express their emotions…”

This is just more evidence supporting why and how metaphors can change and help someone with a illness or just sickness. It power to help a doctor communicate with his or her patient as well as helping them throughout the process of whatever they may be going through.

“Patients reported less trouble understanding them, and felt as though their doctor made sure they understood their conditions”

just another reason how the communication process can be made easier and less challenging due to metaphors. How ever I do believe that metaphors can help one going through these challenges. I personally wish there was a better way of relaying the information instead of saying it helps heal them. I think its a great step of mentally helping or supporting but in no way do I think these doctors are helping the healing process.

Geary: “metaphor also matters because it influences decisions by activating analogies”

this correlates because in todays writing its taking about how metaphors change decisions referring to health and how it affects your thinking and decision making due to the words used. Which is exactly what Geary is saying in part of his text.

“…testing our metaphors for their social and cognitive usability that design can become really powerful.”

this relates because when relating someones health to words or in this case metaphors that holds greater meaning and like Erard is saying become extremely powerful. Its almost like the doctor or physician has this persons life in their hands, and have to watch how they give the patients news.

You wrote more about how the quotes did or did not support the text rather than if you personally agreed with the quote. Also not having the complete sentances for quotes seemed odd. Overall good though.

I chose very similar quotes and I absolutely agree with that you’re stating. In fact, throughout my own blog I mentioned some of the first quotes you mentioned and some of what you had to say correlated with my own writing which with the spin that I was pretty impressed with what you had to say from your own perspective. Awesome job.
